3 days post graft

7 Jul

I’m feeling much much better today.  I had a really good sleep last night and my eye is feeling so much better now.  I haven’t needed to take any pain killers so far today which is great and the vision in my left eye seems a lot less cloudy.  I’m also feeling a lot less sensitive to light and I even have the curtains in the living room open….so nice to be in a brighter room!

I think I might venture out this afternoon for the first time since the op…with a large pair of sunglasses on of course which might get a few funny looks in the rain.

Here is a picture of my left eye this morning….

First of all I want to say thank you for doing this and I wish you a speedy recovery. My doctor talked to me about transplant surgery but the thought of having a donor anything kind of creeps me out. I know that sounds stupid. After having the intacs done and having my vision actually be worse I may have no choice. I do have one question. How long do you have to wait before you go back to work?

    Well once again, thank you.

Thanks for your message, glad that the blog is useful. I hope everything works out well for your with your eye. If you do go for surgery let me know if you have any questions at all that I can help with. Work-wise it’s difficult to say as I work for myself and I guess it would all depend on the type of work you do and also how the op goes. I’m hoping to be able to do some work from home later this week but at the moment I havent felt up to it. Best wishes, Emma

I’m glad for blogs like this. I am scheduled to go under the knife in 2 weeks. For years I was so scared of the idea I would not even let myself consider it. Now I am still so nervous I could vomit and have nightmares about it. (Anything but the eye…cut on anything else) but I a m legally blind in one eye and I have to face up to it now.

A point of view from someone my age who went that route has really helped in keeping me grounded running up to the surgery.
